Itzchak Tarkay (1935-2012), Israeli, Serigraph. Numbered, 197/350 in lower left. Embossed stamp on paper under the numbers. Signed in lower right. Serigraph depicting a scene in front of Cafe Jarden. Focal point being the two ladies sitting at a small table with drinks. Overall Size: 34 7/8 x 33 3/8 in. Sight Size: 25 x 23 1/2 in. Tarkay focuses on the female figure by using simplicity of form and line, along with a rich palette, to create sensitive portraits of elusive ladies. Itzchak Tarkay was born in 1935 in Subotica on the Yugoslav Hungarian border. When he was only nine years old, the Nazis sent Tarkay to Mathausen concentration camp. After the war, he returned home and developed an interest in art. While still at school in Subotica, he won a prize for excellence in painting. Exhibited extensively both in Israel and abroad, and his works can be found in many public and private collections. #5347 #6
