Pair of George Forster O/C (1817-1896) Farm Life. The images are of young children interacting with animals around the farm. The playful happy demeanor of the children around the geese, cats, and lambs opens the door to the souls of the children. These masterfully painted scenes are housed in their original gilt leaf frames. Original Package. Dated 1884. For their age they are in excellent condition. Commensurate with age. Known for lush still lifes, full of the sense of texture from smooth to rough, he placed fruit in natural settings with animals and plants.He was born in Bavaria, Germany, and emigrated to New York in 1865 with his wife and seven children. By 1870, he was exhibiting paintings at the National Academy of Design and at the Boston Athenaeum. He lived primarily in Brooklyn until his death in 1896.Overall Size: 14 3/4 x 17 3/4 in.
