Antique Japanese Buddha-sits 4 inches tall, 6 inches on custom base. Solid-cast, and is very heavy for its size. Seems much larger in person. The bottom says "Kamakura" and 18 BC (Buddhist Calendar- we are in the year 2558-this would make the 18th BC approx 13thC, which corresponds to the Kamakura period)). I've never seen another like it. Looks to have good age and from my experience to be at least pre-Edo, and is probably the 13thC Kamakura era. The face is so unusual, and the casting so distinctive, it may be Korean. from a similar time period. Width 4.1", depth 3" - (5.05lbs / 2.295kg). Solid cast- extremely heavy for its size.
