Description

This is one of the best pieces Straus ever produced - this is the only example of this pattern I've personally ever seen - their Brilliant pattern. And brilliant it is with rich cutting spliced with clear concave pillars throught the pattern for contrast. In their catalog, Straus had an option to order an "extra heavy" blank on certain pieces - this bowl is one of those massive, heavy pieces with this distinction. The blank is nearly an inch thick and weighs 12 pounds! Somehow this piece retains all it's clarity despite the thickness. Maybe the best piece on an extra thick ever made. This piece originally came from the collection of Straus researcher, Craig Carlson and was his personal favorite piece. Stunning blank and design.
