Pair of Chinese blue and white on celadon vases, each of baluster form with a dished rim, the trumpet neck flanked by confronting Fu lions and the body decorated with a scene of the Daoist figure Liu Haichan holding a coin and riding into the water on the back of a toad toward a canoe hung with a double gourd and containing two female Daoist deities, all on a celadon ground, apparently unmarked but having a partial wax seal underneath.

Approximate Dimensions: h. 16.5", dia. 8".

Examined under blacklight. Scattered glaze and manufacturing imperfections. No hairlines or inpainting noted upon inspection. Having a glaze flake at the shoulder of one vase and both having small chips to the handles.
