Description
Three Indian Silk Brocade Fragments, 19th C. Each on a dark blue ground with repeating rows of gold outlined in red on both sides and rows of blue with repeating red and gold paisley designs. Each attached to a dark blue cotton backing. Size: 1) 19.5'' x 25'' (50 x 64 cm). 2) 20'' x 25'' (51 x 64 cm); 3) 20'' x 25.5'' (51 x 65 cm). The Gujarat region is largely known as the main home of silk and Indian brocade weaving. Motifs, small in scale, of flowers, animals, and human figures are set in regular rows against a solid ground.
