Description

Western Europe, England & United States, Victorian to Edwardian era, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A pair of antique picture frames for showcasing photos or art, the larger frame is gilt brass and the smaller is leaded pewter. Both are in nice condition and could be used as intended and have intact glass inserts. The brass has both an easel back support for a tabletop and rings for suspension, and the pewter frame has just an easel arm rod for tabletop display. Size of outer brass frame: 10" W x 16.25" L (25.4 cm x 41.3 cm); interior: 12.12" L x 7.25" W (30.8 cm x 18.4 cm); outer pewter frame: 10" L x 8" W (25.4 cm x 20.3 cm); interior: 5.1" L x 3.375" W (13 cm x 8.6 cm)

Condition

Bending and indentations to the frames, surface wear and abrasions. Pewter frame has a high lead content. The pewter frame's tin backing is more recently welded in place, but coming away from the backing and has loose sides. It could be repaired with adhesive, but functions as is. Floral patterned cloth added to both to protect glass, easily removable. Both frames can be used as intended.
