BIOGRAPHY:
Hal Singer, born 1919 in New York City, first started painting as a teen and later attended New York University and the Art Students League. In 1940 he enlisted in the military, serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Following the war Singer worked as a commercial artist and graphic arts photographer before devoting his life to painting full time in 1962. Working primarily in oil but also known for his watercolors, Singer's subject matter included carousels, figures, landscapes, seascapes and coastal scenes painted in a style he referred to as soft focus realism.
