BIOGRAPHY:
Kaiser-Herbst studied from 1878 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Christian Griepenkerl, then until 1886 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Nikolaus Gysis and Josef Wenglein, but was not entered in the academy's register.Carl Kaiser-Herbst undertook study trips to the Alps, Dalmatia, Corfu and England from 1890 to 1894 .He exhibited his landscape paintings in Paris in 1892, and later also in London, Glasgow, Munich, Vienna and Baden near Vienna.On April 14, 1906, the Badener Zeitung reported under the title "The first Baden art exhibition (continuation)" about the following works that he exhibited: "Bauerngarten am Hallstadter See", "Beech trees in the snow", "Before the beech trees turn green", "Motive on the Schwechat", "Bruck am Wiener-Neustadter-Kanal", "Ancient fountain from Corfu" and "Street from Hallstadt". At the beginning of 1909, the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I acquired his oil painting "Street in Chelsea". Kaiser-Herbst spent the period from 1905 to 1909 in England and returned to Vienna in 1910. After the First World War he painted particularly often in Burgenland. His wife Emilie Kaiser-Schlepitzka (1865-1955) was also a painter.
