Consisting of a pagoda tower formed of separate sections on a metal rod; 12 3/4in h (numerous missing small pieces, losses); a carving of a monkey in a bower; 4 1/4in h (old repairs to top of bower); a beauty with a fan, and Zhongli Quan with fan, tallest 8in (both incised with "China"). FROM THE FAMILY OF REV. CHARLES HARTWELL (1825-1905) and Lucy Estabrook Stearns Hartwell (1827-1883); their children Charles Stearns Hartwell (1855-1931), Emily Susan Hartwell (1859-1951), and Carrie Amelia Hartwell Tupper (1864-1959); Congregational missionaries and philanthropists in Foochow (Fuzhou), China, 1850s-1930s.
