Ashanti (Akan) stool with a stylized lion support standing on a wide platform and supporting a characteristic broad curled seat. With mouth open, the lion has a mane The lion – with mouth open in a way that resembles a grin – is a motif far less common than elephants, leopards and the traditional geometric form.
Seat has triangular perforations and knob grips on its underside at each end.
