Description
Native American, Southwestern and Northwestern United States, Akimel O'odham (Pima) or Tohono O'odham (Papago), ca. early 20th century CE. A hand-woven basketry plaque / tray with a mesmerizing maze-like design. The weaving is made from yucca, grasses, and/or other natural plant fibers and traditionally such plaques were made as ceremonial gifts, and today are used as artistic and decorative pieces. Size: 12" Diameter (30.5 cm)
