Description
Native American, Southwestern United States, Navajo (Dine) made in 1982. A signed, exceedingly ornate, high quality silver belt buckle inlaid with 3 large Kingman or Ithaca Peak Mine turquoise nuggets, 2 red coral pieces and large bear claw. The surrounding background is embellished with the head of a bear, flowers and leaves, border decorated using stamped and hand-worked sections. Reverse with slide for leather belt as well as a pin for the punched holes. Signed "Wilbert Denetdale" - a highly recognized Navajo silversmith - and dated "5/15/82" and stamped (and XRF tested as) "Sterling." Original $675 price is shown on reverse. A truly fabulous example! Size: 4.125" L x 3" H (10.5 cm x 7.6 cm)
