A pair of antique Japanese watercolor paintings with calligraphy framed together. Edo era, late 18th to early 19th century. Watercolor and ink on paper. The panels represent portraits of Heian era waka poets, Fujiwara no Takamitsu and Princess Kishi. The paintings are accompanied by poems, kanji and hiragana letters in flowing script style, also known as chirashigaki. Provenance: estate of Professor Harry Stone, Brentwood, CA. White mat, wooden frame. Collectible Oriental Asian Graphic Art And Calligraphy.
