AMERICAN SCHOOL (19TH CENTURY) FOLK ART REVERSE-PAINTED FIREFIGHTING GENRE SCENE, featuring a horse-drawn, steam-powered pumper racing towards a large fire engulfing one end of an expansive four-story brick structure, likely a factory, signed "B" lower left. Housed in possibly original gilt frame with molded-composition ornament. Circa 1870. 9 1/2" x 13 1/2" sight, 14 1/2" x 18 1/2" OA.

Collection of the late Al and Billy Steidel, Alexandria, VA.
Condition
Very good overall condition with minor flaking and discoloration to reverse-painted elements. Frame with very minor wear, surface possibly restored.
