Description
ASSORTED WASHINGTON, DC EMBOSSED / LABELED WHISKEY BOTTLES, LOT OF FIVE, colorless, comprising a miniature/sample size cylinder embossed for J. Wedderburn Co., a full size three-piece mold cylinder with paper label advertising George W. Cook's Puritan Straight Whiskey, a rectangular pint embossed for Browning & Middleton with matching horse-drawn carriage and gun fight pictorial paper label at rear, a blank strap side "HONEST MEASURE" pint flask paper labeled for Chris. Xander's Old Reserve Rye Whisky, and an oval-shaped strap side liquor bottle embossed "CHRISTIAN XANDER'S / "MELLISTON" / WILD CHERRY CORDIAL / WASHINGTON, D.C.", each with tooled top. Late 19th/early 20th century. 4 1/2" H sample, 12 1/4" HOA.

Condition
Four undamaged; Browning & Middleton with moderate loss to one side of paper label, and a spot of roughness at lip, probably as made. Puritan with a potstone lip and a connected bruise, as made.
