Description
ASSORTED AMERICAN STONEWARE BEER BOTTLES, LOT OF FIVE, mostly salt-glazed and some with cobalt embellishments, each with round blob top mouths, comprising four quart examples and one pint example, stamped for various bottlers including one blue-top A. L. Walker, one J. Walker's Root, and one for Washington, DC brewer Julius Eisenbeiss. Various makers. Third quarter 19th century. 10 5/8" HOA.
Provenance:
Collection of the late Al and Billy Steidel, Alexandria, VA.
Condition
Three quart examples each excellent with varying degrees of wear to bodies and some with minor as-made firing flaws; Wm. Russell example with a network of cracks at rear, and Eisenbeiss with a fully reconstructed/replaced neck and mouth.
