Description

The Book of Common Prayer. and Administration of the Sacraments, and Other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church. Church of England. Exceptional brass rimmed and decorated with a clasp. Velvet covered bible in original presentation box. Provenance is inside front cover on first free paper is an inscription to A C. Compignes by her aunt and uncle Collins, for her wedding; with a bookplate for another owner, Robert P. Oreck; and the original label from the book seller Parkins and Gotto, 25 Oxford Street. In the original presentation box, printed by George Eyre & William Spottiswoode,1857.

Condition

Near mint as originally made, pages are perfect and clean. Only issue is the front hinge has some small separations starting at each end migrating 1/4 inch inward. Original leather covered hinged box has some wear at all the corners of the top h. 5", w. 3.5"
