Offered for the very first time is poster artwork from three films, Scarface (this lot), Die Hard and Predator, lots 8 and 9 respectively. The artwork is by Rod Dyer, a highly respected poster and album cover designer. Over a career spanning more than 50 years, Rod has created the artwork for dozens and movies and album covers. The movies have included these three as well as Reservoir Dogs and Rocky. "Scarface" is a 1983 crime drama film directed by Brian De Palma and written by Oliver Stone. Al Pacino stars as the main character, Tony Montana. The story follows Tony, a Cuban immigrant who arrives in Miami with the Mariel Boatlift and rises to become a powerful and ruthless drug lord. Rod designed the poster artwork using, in part, stills of Pacino from the film set. This piece is drawn on crescent illustration board using various poster paints and ink. This piece measures 21" x 15". The artwork is signed on the back by Rod. This piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Studio Auctions and an LOA from artist Rod Dyer.
