Central Asia, India, ca. early 20th century CE. A gathering of three hand-carved wooden dolls of highly-stylized anthropomorphic forms. The shortest doll kneels atop an integral platform, has a broad chest with rounded shoulders, and a cylindrical head with narrow ovoid eyes. The medium-sized figure has a narrow base beneath tapering legs, an expanding chest adorned with a triangular necklace, and a round head topped with a diamond-shaped cap; traces of original blue-green pigment are still visible. The tallest figure stands atop fused legs, holds rigid arms atop the protruding chest, and has large almond-shaped eyes beneath a domed pate. Size of largest (fused legs): 2.3" W x 10.3" H (5.8 cm x 26.2 cm).

Condition
Each figure has small chips and light abrasions to body and head, softening to finer details, fading to original pigmentation where applicable, and some stable fissures. Light earthen deposits and great patina throughout.
