Native American, Southwestern United States, Tohono O'odham (Papago), ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A lidded basket, using a wrapped-weaving technique and plants such as yucca, agave, and Devil's Claw. The seedpods of Devil's Claw are strong but pliable when dried and have been used for hundreds of years by Southwestern tribes to construct baskets and add a contrasting dark brown / black pattern against the lighter fibers. Size: 6" Diameter x 5" H (15.2 cm x 12.7 cm)
