Elsie R. Hackett (Native American, Lummi, 20th century CE) "Apple Face Doll," ca. 1950s to 1960s CE. A handmade apple face doll figure dressed in leather, cotton, and corduroy with tufts of wool hair. The apple face is indeed a dried piece of apple flesh that has blackened and wrinkled, with beads and wood pellet impressed into the surface as facial features. The underside of the left foot has a label "Created by: Elsie Hackett / Eastsound / Orcas Island, Wash." The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian collection has 2 dolls by Elsie Hackett in their collection, please refer to catalog numbers: 26/735 and 26/734. Size: 10" L x 5" W (25.4 cm x 12.7 cm)

Condition
Stains to cotton cloth. Loss to shoelace on one shoe. Apple is naturally leathery with dust and small debris on the surface. Intact label on one foot. Overall good condition.
