Description
A brass and copper tobacco box, 18th century, Dutch or German, the lid decorated with a profile portrait of King Frederick II of Prussia with an eagle opposing, enclosing a scene commemorating the Seven Years' War, 1756-63, the Battles of Lobositz and Prague, inscribed 'Dein nahme ist genug sie alle zu besiegen ietzt weis die ganze welt schon deines krieges lauf du fangst mit siegen an und horst mit siegen auf', the underside with a garden terrace scene complete with a verse relating to money, 15.7cm wide 4.6cm deep 3.2cm high Condition Report: Minor knocks and wear. More noticeable wear to the underside with some of the words difficult to read.
