This necklace features three strands of carved bird fetishes of various colors strung between Heishi beads in shades of tans and browns. The beads, and fetishes are strung on coated wire with stamped silver tips and silver findings at the end to finish the piece off nicely. MAKER: Unmarked yet most likely George CheeChee (Zuni). George is one of the most important figures in Zuni fetish carving. He began carving in the 1930s and taught his family members and multiple generations of Zuni's on the art of Zuni fetish carving.
APPROX AGE: 1960s -1970s.
SIZE: This necklace measures approximately 28 3/4 inches from end to end. The bird fetishes measure 1 1/8 inches to 1 1/4 inches long. The total weight for this item is 132.8 grams.
