Description

Kerouac's Men's Magazines Three Issues of "Evergreen Review", From His Estate

A group of three issues of the "Evergreen Review" taken from the Jack Kerouac collection. Includes Vol. 12, No. 57; Vol. 13, No. 68; and Vol. 13, No. 71. New York: Evergreen Review, Inc., dating from August 1968 to October 1969. The issues include articles on Che Guevara, Black Power, the state of America, women's rights, etc. All have been stamped with both a Jack Kerouac Estate stamp and the raised blind seal from the Executor of the Estate, John Sampas, who was the brother-in-law of Jack Kerouac and the brother of Stella Kerouac, Jack's wife. The magazines have bumped edges and corners, along with additional wear and fading. Very good overall.

Includes:
Volume 12, No. 57, August 1968: "Nothing for the Ladies" poem; "Che Guevara: Bolivian Campaign Diary" special feature; "The Coming of Black Power".
Volume 13, No. 68, July 1969: "Should I Assume America is Already Dead?"; "Solanas: Film as a Political Essay"; "Literature and Freedom".
Volume 13, No. 71, October 1969: "Arthur Kopit's Indians: Dramatizing National Amnesia"; "Ode on the Death of Che Guevara" poem; "Black Studies: Bringing Back the Person"; "White Woman-Black Man (Part II)" interview.
