"John Sexton explores our natural environment through his exquisitely crafted black-and-white photographs, following in the West Coast tradition of his longtime friend and mentor Ansel Adams. Sexton chooses to photograph in what he refers to as 'quiet light,' a luminous glow of gentle light he finds occasionally at dawn, but more often late in the day, after the sun has set. Preferring to photograph the quiet message of our natural world, he dwells in intimate views rather than expansive vistas. From soft fog in a pine forest to the elegant detail of a corn lily, his images imbue the quiet light with feelings of tranquility and a sense of mystery." - Quiet Light.
