Group of Antique Polynesian Fans, Early 20th C. Crafted from shell, fiber, feather, and straw, these fans originate from one of the Federated States of Micronesia, possibly Panape, Truk, or Kosrae. One fan, identical on both sides, showcases exquisite weaving and excellent preservation, with a smooth-sanded shell at its center. Dyed fibers of coconut and pandanus are intricately crocheted into patterns around the center and on the handle. Size: Ranging from 12'' x 4'' (30 x 10 cm) to 17'' x 13'' (43 x 33 cm).
