Two German dolls. The first, marked "7 1/2" 148", probably German Kestner doll with fixed blue eyes, open mouth and leather body . Wearing a vintage Victorian costume which appears in good condition. The doll with a losses and taped repair to one foot and breaks in all the joints in the leather legs (a nylon stocking is currently holding the parts together) - both arms may also be damaged but the cloths are wrapped tightly around them and has not been removed. - the doll measures 20"L; the second doll, a porcelain shoulder head doll with good Victorian style costume - the doll's left arm is loose, losses to the ends of fingers in both hands, and a small loss at the base of neck - the doll measures 19"L. Provenance: From the Thomas & Gail Rockwell collection, LaGrangeville NY. Tom is the son of the renowned American artist, Norman Rockwell and the author or many children's books. His late wife Gail, was an artist-illustrator and the daughter of Arthur E. Sudler and Janet Whitson Sudler, both early 20th century artists - she illustrated several of her husband's children's books.
