Description
National Portrait Gallery of Eminent Americans: Including Orators, Statesmen, Naval and Military Heroes, Jurists, and Authors. Both books are in very good condition with all of their plates in place. Volume one is hardback brown pebble board with elaborate gold gilt. Volume 2 which is stated 1862 leather corners and spine with boards. Gold gilt to page ends on volume 2. Volume two has some separation on spine as shown in photo. Someone patched it up at some point. Some age toning and foxing to pages with a little shelf wear to cover ends. Very nice set for their age. 11 1/4" by 9".
