A simple biography of the general who led the Confederate Army in the Civil War--- the story of a great American leader forced to make a terrible decision. Robert E. Lee the Virginian, son of a Revolutionary hero, served in the U.S. Army as America moved towards Civil War. Loving his country, he hated to see the Union split, but he could not fight against his native state.

George William Swift Trow Jr. (1943-2006) was an American essayist, novelist, playwright, and media critic. He worked for The New Yorker for almost 30 years, and wrote numerous essays and several books. He is best known for his long essay on television and its effect on American culture, "Within the Context of No Context," first published in The New Yorker on November 17, 1980 (and later published as a book), one of the few times the magazine devoted its central section to a single piece of writing.

Theodore Peter Lewin (1935-2021) simply known as Ted Lewin, was an American illustrator and writer of children's books. He illustrated over 100 books for children and young adults over the course of 20 years.

Lewin graduated from LHS in 1952, and in 1956 earned a BFA degree from Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, New York. In order to finance his education at Pratt, Lewin took on a part-time career as a teenage professional wrestler alongside his brothers. His wrestling career lasted for 26 years, and it inspired him to record his experience by writing I Was a Teenaged Professional Wrestler.[2] He wrestled mainly in the World Wide Wrestling Federation from 1963 to 1968. In 1994, Lewin's book Peppe the Lamplighter received a Caldecott Honor.
