A vintage Aztec Sun solid wood detailed wall sculpture (Spanish: Piedra del Sol). Hand carved motifs throughout depicting components of the Aztec and Mexican creation myth, with central image believed to be the face of the solar deity, Tonatiuh, or possibly the earth monster, Tlaltecuhtli, or a hybrid deity called "Yohualtecuhtli," and referred to as "Lord of the Night," surrounded by four squares representing the four previous eras, and a profusion of addition cultural and allegorical images. No apparent signature. Provenance; a private collection.
