Description
Color pencil on paper drawing by Rufino Tamayo, 1899 to 1991, a Mexican artist of Muralism movement. The artwork depicts a still life with watermelon. Signed by the artist in the lower right. Undated. White mat, wooden frame. The lot also includes a letter addressed to Mr. Carlos Franqui from the artist Rufino Tamayo and dated July 23, 1954, Mexico which references the piece is in possession, encapsulated for protection. Provenance: collection of Mr. Carlos Franqui, 1921 to 2010, a Cuban writer and political activist, former Minister of Culture during the Cuban Revolution, co-organizer of the Salon de Mayo in 1967 in Havana, Cuba. Collectible Modernist Grahpic Art, Latin American Artists.
