Description
Max Cartier began his professional life as an actor, and his first film was Luchino Visconti's "Rocco and His Brothers". Then after opening a restaurant in Nice, he discovered a passion for sculpture. From then on he worked and and exhibited, exploring different materials and drawing inspiration from a wide variety of everyday forms such as shoes, masks and eggs. He shapes his works using poor or worn materials such as plaster, scrap metal, ceramics or even stone, to create unique works with entwined and tangled figures. In 1987 , he created a series of sculptures using frying pans of star-studded Chefs. Source: https://hermitagefineart.com/en/lots/2023-june-fine-art/150/
