Oil on Board Painting attributed to Jean-Charles Cazin. Jean-Charles Cazin was a French landscapist, museum curator, and ceramicist, born on May 25, 1840, and passing on March 17, 1901. Born in Samer, Pas-de-Calais, he was the son of the notable doctor FJ Cazin. After studying in France and England, where he was influenced by the Pre-Raphaelite movement, Cazin became renowned for his paintings that often fused luminous landscapes,
Cazin was recognized as an officer of the Legion of Honour in 1889, celebrated for his tonalism painting, particularly his treatment of landscapes and seascapes, which grew in value among art connoisseurs.
