West German. 1950s. Lithographed tin. The Curvo was made in 3 different colours: red, green, and blue and was produced from 1950 until 1954. The toy is marked "U.S.-Zone Germany". Post-war German manufacturers were banned from exporting goods. Americans occupying the territories permitted the sale and export of toys so long as they were marked "Made in U.S. Zone Germany". This marking was used from the mid to late 1940s with underside stock often continuing into the 1950s. Marked, "Schuco", on box, front and sides of bike, tires, and underside of bike. Marked, "Made in U.S. Zone Germany", on underside of bike. Box approx: 2" x 4" x 5.25". Toy approx: 3.5" x 5" x 2". The Howie Meyer Legacy Collection.
