Description
Ancient Near East, Achaemenid Empire, ca. 550 to 330 BCE. A hand-carved stone stamp seal depicting a horse laying with head down around its forelegs, perhaps deceased. The underside displays a dense scene of horses being hunted by a standing archer in a field, perhaps a king. The upper periphery bears a drilled suspension hole. Size: 2.5" L x 0.75" W x 1.5" H (6.4 cm x 1.9 cm x 3.8 cm)

Condition
Repair to one corner, with small chips and light adhesive residue along break lines. Small chips along peripheries, with softening to some finer details, and abrasions along stamp face, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to horse along topside.
