An important and rare palace-sized vase, featuring a bird in flight amongst blooming flowers, done in moriage and enamel on a ground of red and gold variegated glaze. With brass mounts. Stamped EG underneath - possibly a retailer mark. In the manner of Jules Vieillard. Early 20th Century. Dimensions: (Including base and crown) H 40.75" x Dia 18.75" Condition: Brass crown piece not attached, with a few dents and bends. Minor crack to ceramic at underside of base/foot; a couple tiny hairlines to top rim; two small circular divots to body, possibly from previous mounted handles. Minor crazing. Rubbing to glaze and gilding; nicks to moriage work. Surface grime to interior. Natural patination to metal.
