Provenance
Important Private Collection, Pittsburgh, PA.

Randy Stiglitz is an artist of Coast Salish / European descent. He was born in North Vancouver and began to carve in the traditional Salish style. When he committed to becoming an artist, he made the move to Victoria to train with the artists assembled at Thunderbird Park where he worked with numerous members of the Hunt family, Gene Brabant, and John Livingston. He would adopt the Kwak-waka’wakw style that was dominant among the Thunderbird Park artists which continues to this day. He has a particular interest in the larger scale articulated / transformation masks that would open and close or employ moving parts such as articulated jaws or flapping wings. Stiglitz would return to Vancouver where he met his wife and future collaborator, Janice Morin. Many of his modern pieces are signed by both artists.
