Description
Jean Dubuffet, French, 1901 to 1985, a collage watercolor painting on paper depicting an abstract composition, 1962. Signed with initials and dated, lower right .Jean Philippe Arthur Dubuffet was a French painter and sculptor of the Ecole de Paris School of Paris. Jean Dubuffet is known for Modernist painting, collage, drawing. His work took on a special excitement. His philosophy amounted to a sweeping rejection of Europes cherished art traditions. He became the leader of the Art Brut Raw art movement, which proposed that the only art worthwhile was spontaneous and that those who are the most spontaneous are savages, lunatics and children. In the early 1960s after the close of his Paris Circus period, Debuffet invented yet another period, entitled Hourloupe. It was described by a nervous meandering line, a web, into which the human comedy was trapped for scrutiny. One of a kind artwork.
