Description
DESCRIPTION: After Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (Italian, 1513) High Renaissance style Grand Tour sculpture titled "Moses", depicting the biblical figure Moses with horns on his head, based on a description in chapter 34 of Exodus in the Vulgate, the Latin translation of the Bible used at that time. This small bronze sculpture rest on a plinthed marble pedestal base, and is crafted after the original "Moses" sculpture by Michelangelo, that was commissioned in 1505 by Pope Julius II for his tomb, and is housed nowadays in the church of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome.
