DESCRIPTION: Woodblock colored print on three paper sheets by Toyohara Chikanobu (1838-1912) depicting Ichikawa Danjuro IX (1838-1903) as the priest Mongaku Shonin doing penance seated under the freezing waters of the Nachi waterfall for slaying his cousin Kesa Gozen. Inscribed in three places including actors name to figure's upper left.
