German artist protagonist of the Neue Wilden, Stefan Szczesny studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and at the University of the same city, as a visiting student of Art History and Philosophy. He later extended his studies in Paris (1975-76) and Florence (1980) thanks to scholarships. In 1981 he is presented in Cologne in the exhibition Rundshau Deutschland as a protagonist of the new German wild painting, the Neue Wilden, and a year later he received the Rome Prize of the Prussian Academy of Arts, which allowed him to work at the Villa Massimo in Rome. Later he expanded his activity as editor of the art magazine "Malerei. Painting. Peinture" and set designer ("Dunkles Haus" at the Bayerische Staatsoper in 1991-92), among other activities. In fact, in the late nineties will work the glass in Murano, and in 2002 concluded the shooting of the film "Szczesny. The film", directed by C. Faudon in New York. He currently lives and works in hair between Saint Tropez and Berlin. Throughout his career he has held solo exhibitions in galleries and museums in Italy, Germany, Spain, France and the United States, and has taken on public projects in several countries. He is currently represented in the Art Galleries of Emden, Bremen, Mannheim and Kiel, the Lenbach House in Munich, the Linz Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in Munich and the Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Bonn.
