Description

George MacDonald was a pioneering figure in the field of fantasy literature and the mentor of fellow writer Lewis Carroll. A combination of story and romance, scenic description, quirky characters, and musings philosophical and theological. It also includes little nuggets of parenting wisdom throughout (the narrator was a dad of teens and younger). In the 1880s D. Lothrop published several MacDonald books, all in matching green bindings with a geometric device on both the front cover and spine. This book is part of that matched set and appears to be quite uncommon today. Possibly the second American edition. Lightly illustrated. Tiny bit of fraying at foot of spine. Rubbing to extremities. Front hinge cracked but holding. Rear hinge cracked in a small area. A clean book. 5.5 x 7.5 624 pp.
