Description
Framed Japanese Ukiyo-e Triptych, probably late 19th-early 20th century in date, represents scenes of a Daimyo with female companions. The interior scene shows him as a man of culture viewing handscrolls and albums during the spring. The other two scenes illustrate encounters during fall travels. In the middle print, his companion retreats from the palanquin so she is not visible to the male visitor who was not a member of her family. A warrior presents his sword to the Damiyo in the final print. Their small scale suggests they were printed for an album of Ukiyo-e prints.
