19th century, surmounted by a tall rocaille crest, cartouche form seatback, heavily scrolled arms and uprights, cabochon carved cabriole legs, scrolled toes, 57 x 27 x 22 in.
Provenance: According to consignor notes, formerly the property of Roman architect Armando Brasini (1879-1965); Carlo Bianchini, Orvieto, Italy, November 2016, purchased for 8,000 EUR; The Estate of Dr. J. Clayton Davie and Family
Condition
structurally sound, scattered losses and wear to gilt surface, small areas of gilt restoration throughout, top of crest has been reattached, scattered insect holes (not active), minor surface cracks and losses, feet with surface losses, most of rear seatback is not gilded and is a yellow gesso, other scattered wear and imperfections as expected with age and use
