BIOGRAPHY:
My name is Robert Meredith and I have worked as a professional artist since my first summer job at the age of sixteen in the design department of McNeel Monument Company in Marietta, Georgia.My degree is a BFA in drawing and painting from the University of Georgia, 1963. Lamar Dodd was my major professor.I have had forty five one-man shows from Texas to Massachusetts. They include 3 at the Parthenon in Nashville, Tennessee. A show at William Paterson College in Paterson N.J., and three at the Frederick-Nila Gallery in Longview Texas. I had an exhibition of my paintings at St Botolph's Club, the famous art club of the Boston painters where John S. Sargent and Claud Monct were introduced to the United States. I have shown my paintings at the Frame House Gallery in Louisville Kentucky and I have had three exhibitions at the Marietta, Cobb Museum of Art in Marietta, Georgia. My most recent exhibition was a retrospective of about 60 paintings, 30 old and 30 new, at the Creative Arts Guild in Dalton, Georgia.I have paintings in the collections of the State of Tennessee and the Tennessee Fine Arts League. I also have paintings at Belmont College, Emory University, Dekalb College, Southern Polytechnical, and Kennesaw State University.I was a member of Grand Central Gallery and the Salmagundi Club in New York City. My work has been sold by the Alexander Gallery, Berry-Hill Gallery and Gallery Henoch, all of New York City.I have often participated in group shows and exhibitions and have won many prizes and awards which are numerous and too boring to list.My collectors include Steve Martin the actor, Richard Manoogian, the number one collector of American art, Eddy Nicholson, the first man to pay one million dollars for a piece of furniture, Peter Bonaparth, President, Jones of New York and Arthur and Stephany Blank. I have many corporate collectors including TycoToys, Masco, Jones of New York and Wellington Management to name a few.I have taken thirteen painting trips to Europe. I am currently represented by Ann Jackson Gallery of Roswell Georgia, the Left Bank Gallery in St. Simons Island, Georgia, Carolina Galleries in Charleston, South Carolina and by Brown and Corbin Fine Art of Boston.
