Description
For your consideration is a WWII era Imperial Japanese Labor Merit & Wounded Soldier's Badges. The Labor Merit badge was awarded to workers who displayed exceptional merit in the factories, including those who died in raids. Instituted in September 1942 by Imperial Edict and offered in a number of classes. The design has enameled cloud-shaped crests, four ball bearings, and a small girl inside a gear making an offering to the gods. Badge is composed of enameled nickel-plated tombac and measures 30 mm in diameter. Reverse of badge is marked with (3) Japanese characters and has (2) vertical fasteners. Badge weighs 16 grams.
Included in this listing is a WWII Imperial Japanese Wounded Soldier's Badge. Red-enameled badge measures 31mm in diameter and carries (8) Japanese character markings on reverse along with (2) vertical fasteners. Badge weighs 12 grams.
Provenance: Descended through the family of US ARMY COL (Ret) Howard Bressler (1918-2012), of Kileen and San Antonio, Texas.

Condition
Please use all images as addendum to condition statement. Item is in excellent vintage condition with no breaks, heavy wear, loss of decoration or repair. Warm patina noted commensurate with age and proper storage. Wounded Soldier's badge shows some cracks in red-enameled portions - all areas stable and in no danger of worsening with appropriate handling.
