A beautiful hand paint color, and ink on paper woodblock vertical print. Edo Period, features a narrow strip of land surrounded by water, and a man beating another man. Full title Akasaka: Yajiro Gives Kitahachi a Beating on the Nawate Road, Mistaking Him for (the Spirit of) a Fox, no. 40. Original print can be found in the 1850s series, Collection of Illustrations of Famous Places near the Fifty-Three Stations (Along the Tokaido), by the ukiyo-e artist Utagawa Hiroshige. Title series on the top right. Title print on the top right. Artist signature on the left. Print placed on the mat paper. Mat: 13.5"W x 18"H. Print size: 8.5"W x 13"H.
