Description
Antique late 1800's featuring a 30" half round, half octagon Remington marked barrel. Approximately 36 caliber. Front sight is a milled bead sight, rear is an early style buckhorn with slide elevator sight. 3" from the end of the barrel is stamped "H.F. Palmer Adrian MI". H.F. Palmer was a rifle maker in Adrian, MI from 1860 to 1895. Engraved back-action percussion lock. Hammer screw has been replaced. Back action features adjustable double set triggers that are fully functional. Engraved German silver trigger guard with finger loops. Engraved Silver crescent buttplate. One piece walnut half stock. Stock features a two-piece German silver round patch box on the right side, along with nine German silver adornments ranging from dogs to hunter, deer and flowers. Buttplate, toeplate and tailpipe are all fitted of German silver. Nose cap is of pewter. Muzzleloading tube is a replaced fire-striped hickory. CALIBER: 36 Caliber. S/N: N/A. FFL STATUS: Antique.
Condition
Barrel overall has brown patina with light pitting throughout with more toward the muzzle. Overall the action has a dark gray to brown patina appearance with only faint pitting. Trigger guard is in very good condition and the double set triggers function well. Buttstock has 20% original finish with very faint original checkering lines. Just forward of the percussion cap area is a 4" crack toward the muzzle. One stress crack on the right side of the tang. Two stress cracks from top of buttplate to patch box. Hickory ramrod appears to be a late replacement. Dark bore with functioning mechanics.
