Gilt Bronze Figure signed M. (Maurice) Bouval, 7 1/2" x 4 1/4" x 4", "La Pensive".

There are some spots where someone tried to clean it with something mildly abrasive. In the photo of her left side where she is seated one can observe that on the seat section it has a yellow glow to it whereas the rest of the figure is of a more slightly darkened bronze. There is a mark that resembles an exclamation mark there. It appears someone may have also endeavoured to polish the area of the signature. It also looks yellow at the back of the seat. To her left knee there is a darkened area of oxidization caused by I know not what. It probably once had a base which is no longer extant. The bottom cross member appears cracked so it must have suffered a tumble. Structurally the form is still integral and undamaged from a physical perspective. The former issues mainly to do with the surface patina. One cannot detect any restorations.
